Shorts

Watch for comic strips by 12-year-old Kyle Renne, a Historic Northeast resident. Kyle, who says he has been drawing for nine years, will stretch his cartooning muscles for the Northeast News readers once or twice a month.
Kyle draws several storylines, though his main strip tells the story of Chuck and Dude, shown at right, two ordinary kids doing regular and funny things. Kyle said Chuck and Dude represent two sides of a conscience, and he conceives the storylines from his own life.
“Say I’m eating whipped cream out of the bottle,” Kyle said, “I might write a comic about it.”
The home-schooled boy enjoys reading, writing and making jokes. He said he would like to be a film actor and director when he grows up. He’s already tried his hand at movie making, including animation and claymation.
And as if directing and starring in movies wasn’t enough, he said he’d like to continue to be a cartoon artist when he grows up, as well.
“I’d like to still put out comics in the newspaper,” Kyle said. “I think that’d be pretty cool.”
